LSN Powers All Emergency Text Alerts for New Keep Georgia Safe Wireless Network
LSN's Media-to-Mobile Platform Delivers Levi's Call (Georgia's AMBER alert), and other critical GBI Alerts to Mobile Devices
ATLANTA, November 24, 2008 - When a child or a person suffering from Alzheimer's disease goes missing, every minute counts. LSN, Inc., Local Solutions Network, with the nation's largest network of local television news content to mobile users, has teamed with Keep Georgia Safe, a new non-profit organization founded and sponsored by the Gary Martin Hays Family Foundation, to disseminate emergency alerts for missing children and other vulnerable individuals anywhere in Georgia.
As the only organization that sends out all three of Georgia's emergency alerts, the Keep Georgia Safe Wireless Network uses the LSN Short Message Service (SMS) Text Platform to notify opt-in wireless subscribers when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) issues any of its three emergency alerts:
Levi's Call: (Georgia's AMBER alert) for an abducted or missing child
Mattie's Call: elderly or disabled missing person alert
Kimberly's Call: dangerous fugitive alert
"We are proud to take part in Keep Georgia Safe, an endeavor that has the potential to save lives and bring families together," said David Spear, EVP sales and marketing, LSN. "One of our employees, Gordy Wyatt, spearheaded LSN's participation with Gary Martin Hays and the Keep Georgia Safe program and his diligence and great relationship with Gary went a long way towards the successful launch of the emergency alert network system."
To sign up to receive the three emergency alerts via text message to a mobile phone, visit www.KeepGeorgiaSafe.org and enter a Georgia mobile phone number. To sign up for text alerts from a mobile phone, text the word "SAFE" to WINIT (94648). The service is free of charge. However, there may be a charge issued by the subscriber's cellular service depending on the subscriber's texting plan.
The LSN platform delivers emergency text alerts to mobile subscribers at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, Alltel, Cellular One, MetroPCS and Boost Mobile.
"Statistics show that the first three hours are the most critical in recovery efforts when someone is missing. It is imperative to get the alert out to as many people as possible, using every resource available to us. With the LSN text message technology, we are able to send immediate details of the abduction to our cell phone subscribers. In most cases, this includes not only a description of the child, but also the abductor and the vehicle being used," said Gary Martin Hays, founder and chairman of Keep Georgia Safe. Mr. Hays is a local attorney in Gwinnett whose firm focuses on claims involving motor vehicle accidents, dangerous products, injuries and wrongful deaths, workers' compensation and nursing home abuse cases.
Mary Ellen Fulkus, executive director of Keep Georgia Safe, said, "Our goal is to immediately involve the public, especially motorists, in the search for an abducted child. By signing up for our alerts, Georgians can play an important role in the recovery of an abducted child, as well as other individuals who are at risk."
